What Is The Purpose Of This Form?

This form is used to request a 6-month automatic extension of time to file any of the following returns. The series 990s are due every year by the 15th day of the 5th month after the close of your tax year. This form extends the time to file by 6-months.

Keep in mind that Form 8868 cannot be filed to extend the due date of a Form 990-N. Extending the time for filing a return does not extend the time for paying tax.
